Give locally the ‘United Way’

February 17, 2012
The Inter-Mountain

Neighbors helping neighbors. That's a statement made often when people describe the efforts of the United Way.

It's quite fitting because that's exactly what the United Way does. In Randolph County, 27 agencies are supported in part through the dollars contributed to the United Way. Those agencies, in turn, give back to the community with services, financial assistance and programs that enhance our way of life.

On Saturday, the United Way of Randolph County is asking that community members do their part by making a contribution during the Live United Telethon. This can come in the form of a pledge, a challenge to others or "bail" money for community members who will be detained in the makeshift "lock-up." Every penny stays in Randolph County.

The 12-hour telethon will broadcast live from Beverly Elementary School on WETV Channel 3 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and stream live at www.wdnefm.com. Pledges will be received at 304-642-1334.

By working together and sharing our resources, we truly can Live United in Randolph County.
