Ever since it was announced late last week that a company is considering purchasing property in the railyard, people have been talking. Many are saying they have "heard" which business will open its doors, while others merely started guessing.
At The Inter-Mountain, we've caught wind of several of these "possibilities," and to be honest many of our staffers have tossed around their own ideas. In reality, none of us really know the identity of the business considering this location. That is, with the exception of the Randolph County Development Authority and its Executive Director Robbie Morris.
On Tuesday, Morris spoke before the ON TRAC promotions committee and gave some highlights of upgrades in the railyard. As for the new business, he said it wasn't his "place to disclose it." In fact, he's all but sworn to secrecy since the process is still in negotiations.
It's a strong possibility that everyone is guessing and talking because they're excited that a new development is coming to the railyard - and that's a good thing. It shows that residents are interested in their community and want to see it grow.
It's our hope that Morris' negotiations are successful and that even more businesses decide to make the railyard their home.
In the meantime, we just can't wait to find out the details of this new project.
