With the loss of seven seniors from last year's 14-14 season, the Tygarts Valley High School baseball team will look to a young group in the lineup for its 2012 season.
The Bulldogs, who lost in the sectionals last year to Pendleton County, return senior utility player J.D. Brown, junior infielder/pitcher Brandon Pritt and junior outfielder/pitcher Mark Parrack.
"We're counting on these three to really lead this team this year," Tygarts Valley coach James Markley said. "We need them to have a big year offensively and on the mound."

The Tygarts Valley High School baseball team will open the season March 16 at Gilmer County. Mark Parrack, left, J.D. Brown, center, and Brandon Pritt all return from last season’s team.
Also returning for the Bulldogs are senior utility player Kevin Shrader, junior infielder Timmy Sparks, and sophomores Keighan Chewning and Owen Arbogast. Chewning will be the team's catcher, while Arbogast will see time at first base and as pitcher.
"All four of these guys will see time for us somewhere in the lineup," Markley said. "They all saw time last year for us, and we're expecting big things from them this year."
Newcomers who will look to contribute to this year's team are junior outfielder Adam Cassell and sophomore infielder Jared Shiflett.
"Cassell played for us as a freshman, but didn't play last year. We are expecting his speed to help us in the outfield," Markley said. "Shiflett is also battling for time in the infield for this year. There could also be some freshman this year who could see some time."
