The Tucker County Senior Centers will host two candidate forums so that voters can hear candidates address issues that are of public concern.
The first forum is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. April 14 at the Mt. Top Center in Thomas. The second forum is set from 1 to 3 p.m. April 21 at the Parsons Senior Center.
Seniors also might want to take part in a trip to Amish Country. As of March 30, there are two openings for the trip, set April 24 to 26 trip to the Sugarcreek, Ohio Amish Country. Call 304-478-2423 for more information.
Meanwhile, the trip to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam, which is scheduled for Sept. 17 to 29, is currently filled. However, if any vacancies occur, people registered on the reserve list will be contacted. If no one on the reserve list wants to sign up for the trip, the Senior Center will announce any openings.
The dates for the trip to Lancaster and the new production of Jonah at the Sights and Sounds theater are set for Aug. 14 to 16. The trip will include three days and two nights and the price will be about $345 per person, double occupancy. The trip also will include a visit to Gettysburg. Call the Senior Center for more information or to register for the trip.
The Travel Committee will take payments for the Sugarcreek and Grand Canyon trips from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 12. If you need to make other arrangements, call Sam at the Senior Center.
In other news, there is a meeting each Monday, usually at 10 a.m., to work on plans for the Senior Olympics. If you would like to participate, call the Senior Center for more information or to confirm the time and date of the next meeting.
If any individuals or businesses are interested in helping sponsor the Senior Center's Olympic contestants, their help would be much appreciated. In the past, contestants have done a superb job in representing Tucker County. While they greatly enjoy participating, doing so incurs a considerable expense. The Olympians also will plan fundraisers to help their cause.
