In hopes of gaining a better perspective of community awareness, the Pendleton County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, a group of the Potomac Highlands Substance Abuse Prevention Program, is hosting a town hall meeting regarding the community concerns related to substance abuse, how to protect families and what the community can do to combat the problem within Pendleton County.
The meeting will allow community members to address their concerns, identify specific problems and risk factors pertinent to the Pendleton County area, determine existing resources, and provide some input for additional resources and prevention strategies. A question-and-answer session will provide individuals with a better understanding of what's really going on and what can be done to help.
Pendleton County is planning a town hall meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. April 17 at the Pendleton County Community Building in Franklin. Food will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m.
As an association committed to prevention and treatment efforts, the PHSAPP invites community members to be part of this meeting.
A panel of speakers has been assembled for the evening. It will consist of law enforcement officials, medical professionals, a recovering addict/family member and other professional members of the community. Property owners, parents, educators, students, law enforcement and those interested in investing their time to this issue are strongly encouraged to attend.
It is important to have a large representation from the community to combat this issue as a team. It is the hope that the community will join together in tackling this issue.
