Performance Motors has scheduled a pair of "Love Your Wheels Car Care Clinics" to explain the importance of maintenance and show a number of basic repair procedures.
The clinics, geared especially toward women but open to everyone, are scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Elkins, and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Parsons. In both cases, refreshments will be provided and door prizes will be awarded every half hour.
"We understand many people don't have time to take care of vehicle maintenance themselves, but it really is an important subject," said Rich Nida, service manager for Performance locations at 1211 Harrison Ave. in Elkins and 224 Pennsylvania Ave. in Parsons. "This will be an enjoyable evening where you can learn how to handle basic repairs and keep an eye on things so they don't become major problems."
After a welcome and snacks, people can experience several stations at each clinic. Topics will include:
Tire Care - including measuring tread, checking pressure, and how to change a flat tire;
Computers and Your Car - with information on computer diagnostics as well as how to jump start a dead battery;
Fluid Level Checks - featuring the importance of maintenance logs both for service and resale value;
OnStar, with information about the service available on GM vehicles;
Powder Coating - including spray-in Vortex bed liners; and
Detail Station - with the latest in car cleaning technology.
"We'll make everything easy to understand, and we'll have fun while doing it," Nida said.
People who answer questions correctly will receive Performance and Chevrolet shirts and hats, and everyone will get a goody bag. Door prizes include oil changes, manicure/pedicure gift certificate, Wal-Mart gift cards and a free tire rotation.
