Schools will conduct a mock evacuation drill across Barbour County.
The drill is designed for the purpose of training school students and staff as well as emergency service personnel to be prepared in the event of a necessary evacuation. The practice evacuation is to take place between Monday and May 4 during school hours.
Staging areas will be ready for students and staff to be evacuate. Some staff and students may be transported by school buses to off-site locations designated for the drill. Once the drill is complete, students will be allowed to return to the school buildings.
The drill has been authorized by the Barbour County School Board of Education, Superintendent Dr. F. Joseph Super and all participating agencies.
