As members of the Friends of Rachel Club at Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School, we would like to invite and encourage our families and friends to attend the field day on May 24 at the Buckhannon-Upshur High School football field from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The home side bleachers have been reserved for all of our family and community guests to observe this event. Every elementary school, B-UMS and B-UHS will be represented. It will be an amazing day of fun activities and friendly field day events. We would love to have you cheer us on. We are honored to have WVU Mountaineer Jonathan Kimble as our guest speaker.
Rachel's Challenge is a nation-wide program encouraging students to treat each other with respect and to start a chain reaction of kindness. All schools in our county have been recognizing "kindness acts" all year by linking chain links together and displaying them throughout the school. Each link represents one act of kindness. We think you will be impressed by the chains. Overall we will have more than 15,000 chain links for the county.
We, along with all the other schools, will proudly carry our paper chains around the track to open the events. Won't it be great to see the youth of this community showing so much compassion for others? We like to think that we have started a chain reaction of kindness and we would like for you to be part of that. You can help us by attending the field day and showing your support.
