Harel and Juanita Vandevender, of Kerens, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on April 10.
The couple were married April 10, 1957, at Red House, Md., by the Rev. William Renn.
Mr. Vandevender is the son of the late Ira and Betty Vandevender. He is retired from the City of Elkins Street Department.

Mrs. Vandevender is the daughter of the late Melvin and Maggie White. She is employed through Colonial Place.
They are the parents of eight children, Paul Wayne and wife, Amy, of Kerens, Rosa Marie Brown and husband, Eddie, of Kerens, Richard Brent and wife, Norma, of Laurel Mountain Road, Carolyn June Bonner and husband, Paul, of Kerens, Curtis Lee and wife, Linda, of Laurel Mountain Road, Phillip Darrell and wife, Melissa, of Mabie, Frances Louise Cox and husband Ralph Jr., of Elkins and John Douglas and wife, Trudy, of Kerens.
They also have 15 grandchildren, Justin Vandevender, Kimberly Pifer, Ashley Brown, Leanna and Brenton Vandevender, Eric and Jeremy Bonner, Mikeal Vandevender, Hannah, Alex and Garrett Vandevender, Jennifer, Heather and Madison Cox and Jacob Vandevender; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Natalie, Kayla and Taylor Pifer and Lilly Cyrus Vandevender; and one great-great-granddaughter, Kyle McCauley.
