Dancers wanted are wanted to come enjoy an evening of free Civil War-era music and dancing at the Sites Homestead, part of the Seneca Rocks Discovery Center, in Seneca Rocks.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m. June 9, the front yard of the homestead will transform into a dance floor where dancers and visitors of all ages are invited to come enjoy the music and calling of the Rich Mountain String Band.
No previous dance experience is necessary; all dances will be taught at the event. Hay bale seating and light refreshments will be provided. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved into the Discovery Center.
The middle of the 19th century saw the start of a world-shaking cultural event: the beginnings of an authentically American music tradition. The Rich Mountain String Band shares the birth of this vibrant musical tradition with contemporary audiences.
