The Barbour County Chamber of Commerce, Fair Association and County Commission are planning an old-fashioned, fun-filled stay-at-home weekend celebration of Independence Day.
The fairgrounds will be open at 8 a.m. July 7 and 8 for the second Barbour County Flea Market. In addition to the flea market, other activities will include a Li'l Miss Barbour County Pageant on Saturday for ages 15 years and younger, an honorary program for troops and veterans of all wars, food vendors and a wide variety of crafts. The evening will be capped off with the ever-popular demolition derby, followed by a massive display of fireworks.
Admission is free. Donations will be appreciated to help defray the cost of the event. For the flea market, covered spaces of 10-by-15-feet are available for rent for the entire weekend. To register for the flea market, obtain additional information about the events or make a donation, anyone interested can call 304-823-1328.
