Beginning this Friday, Buckhannon is going to be the "place to be" on Friday night all summer long and into the fall.
Every Friday from June 8 to Oct. 12 at the new Jawbone Park, people from all over the state can come to enjoy music, a variety of entertainment, demonstrations, food and West Virginia-grown, produced and handmade products.
Children's activities will range from face painting to learning to juggle. Some of the items for sale will include organic produce, food, jewelry, textiles and hand-carved wood products.
Funding for the event comes from the Upshur County Convention and Visitors' Bureau and local businesses. Festival Fridays is an initiative of Create Buckhannon, a group of local citizens who meet weekly to support and develop the community. Everyone is welcome at the meetings.
The June music schedule, set for 5 to 8 p.m. each Friday, includes the following:
June 8 -Good Vittles & Co./Wish Awake
June 15 - Blackwater Mojo/Adam Loudin
June 22 - Ben Townsend/Zen
June 29 - Rob Masten/The Nesbitt Trio
