Rock Cave CEOS members met May 1 at the Banks District Civic Center.
The meeting was called to order by President Debbie Page, with 13 members and one guest, Ely McCartney, present.
Ted Turner gave the blessing before refreshments. Vice President Cheryl Turner read "As I Look in the Mirror" for devotions, followed by the flag salute. Susie Bender won the door prize.
Secretary Carol Haymond took roll call and read April minutes. One correction was made. Page sent $30 to the Upshur County Community Baby Shower, not the Partners in Prevention. A motion was made and seconded to accept the corrected minutes,
Avis Bowles gave a marketing and membership report. Susie Bender and Carol Haymond brought magazines to the book nook. Page reported turning in 300 boxtops to chairman Yvette Pappas at IGA for Rock Cave Elementary School.
In old business, Page reported on the April 12 advisory board meeting. She attended along with Bender and Haymond. Rock Cave CEOS members chose to vote for Parish House for the 2013 County Service Project. Clubs will donate $2 per member for the strawberry raffle. It was decided not to donate to Girls State this year, but to donate to Project Graduation instead.
The 2012 County Belle is Marge Kleckner from Brushy Fork and Strawberry Belle is Sharon Strader from Lorentz.
The group also planned for its plant and white elephant sale, set June 5.
Bender showed the strawberry basket she made for the strawberry basket contest.
During Show-N-Tell, Bowles showed a wreath made from miniature paper umbrellas, Cheryl Turner showed a photograph of a mother duck on her nest in the potted flowers in the Wal-Mart parking lot. She also gave the lesson "Living Your Bucket List."
Ted Turner motioned to adjourn, with the motion being carried.
