Members of the Upshur County Board of Education approved the following personnel Decisions this week on the recommendation of Superintendent Scott Lampinen.
The approval was made on 5-0 vote from board members, with a motion from board members Howard J. Johns and a second from board member Alan Suder.
The following resignations were approved:
Wease Day as bus operator, effective June 30, for retirement; and Carrie L. Swayne as substitute teacher, effective June 5.
Board members approved the following employments and/or assignments, which are all contingent upon satisfactory background checks as required by state law:
James A. Nolte as head boys' soccer coach at Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School, effective with the 2012-2013 season; Cynthia S. Reed as cook II at Buckhannon Academy Elementary School, effective with the 2012-2013 school year; Dennis Dawson as clerk of the works for major improvement projects, pending School Building Authority approval; Jane Johnson as substitute teacher, effective with the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year; Jeffrey Dean as general maintenance/carpenter/electrician II, effective with the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year; Keith Sinclair as general maintenance/carpenter/electrician II, effective with the 2012-2013 school year; and Cathy Linger as substitute teacher, effective with the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year.
The following transfers were approved:
Sherry McDaniels from her position as reading specialist at Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School to English language arts teacher at Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School, effective with the 2012-2013 school year; Brenda Hyre from her position as itinerant supervisory aide at Union Elementary School to itinerant classroom/transportation aide, effective with the 2012-2013 school year; Christy Bush from her position as itinerant supervisory classroom/transportation aide to itinerant classroom/transportation aide at Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School; Aimee Payne from her position as second-grade teacher at Buckhannon Academy Elementary School to multi-categorical special education teacher at Union Elementary School, effective with the 2012-2013 school year; Rachel Cunningham from her position as third-grade teacher at Union Elementary School to second-grade teacher at Union Elementary School, effective with the 2012-2013 school year; and Erica Bryant from her position as secretary at Buckhannon Academy Elementary School to secretary at the Transportation Department, effective with the 2012-2013 school year.
