Carolyn Jean White Petrice, 74, a longtime resident of Coalton, departed this life Tuesday morning, June 19, 2012, at Newberry, S.C., where she had been living since 2010.
She was born Monday March 21, 1938, at Adrian. She is the daughter of the late Ted F. and Ella Mae White.
On Aug. 6, 1966, at Coalton, she was married to Lawrence Joseph Petrice, who preceded her in death on March 26, 2004.
Surviving are two sons, Michael J. Petrice and wife, Lisa, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Joseph A. Petrice and wife, Francis, of Coalton; one daughter, Carla Fisher and husband, Rocky, of Prosperity, S.C.; one brother, Junior White and one sister, Lucille Gould, both of Adrian; five grandchildren, Matt, Josh, Timmy, Cathy and Kathy Marie; and five great grandchildren.
She attended the schools of Buckhannon. Having made her career as a housewife, foster parent and later as an aide for Companion Care in Elkins, she leaves behind a legacy of caring for others. She liked working on her flowers and trying new recipes. She also loved vacationing, especially surrounded by family and close friends, and she was a member of Phillips Chapel Methodist Church of Jimtown.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Saturday, June 23, at noon. Pastor Richard Bertelli will officiate and interment will follow at the Phillips Cemetery at Jimtown.
