Suzuki, Fordland advance to title tilt

Elkins Babe Ruth City Tournament

Elkins Suzuki and Elkins Fordland advanced to the championship game of the Elkins Babe Ruth City Tournament with wins on Wednesday.

Caleb Riggleman and Rece Wamsley had four hits each to lead Suzuki to a 14-13 win over Broughton's Sports in Wednesday's first game at Robin Harvey Memorial Field.

Riggleman collected a double and scored four runs for Suzuki, while Jace Kyle, Patrick Masten and Jacob Swecker had two hits each. P.J. Lanham added one hit and scored two runs..

Wamsley notched the win for Suzuki in two innings of relief.

P.J. Lanham started the contest, while Riggleman also saw time in relief for Suzuki.

Jordan Schumacher had two hits, including a double, while Sam Nestor had one hit and four runs scored for Broughton's Sports.

Kole Hopwood had one hit and scored three runs.

Chris Bodkin, Brendan Cain and Jared Kerns added one hit each for Broughton's Sports.

Kerns took the loss for Broughton's in five innings of relief. Chris Bodkins pitched the first two innings.

In the nightcap, Elkins Fordland moved to the championship game with a 17-6 win over Davis Trust.

Trey Bodkin had four hits and scored three runs to lead Elkins Fordland.

Blake Loftis had three hits and scored a run, while Cole Harlan had one hit and four runs scored for Forland.

John Huffman and Richard Simmons added one hit and scored two runs each for Fordland.

Harlan picked up win for Forland in four innings of work. He gave up six runs on seven hits and struck out six.

Kevin McDermott had two hits and scored two runs, while James Fedder had a triple for Davis Trust Company.

Ryan Gaaserud took the loss for Davis Trust Company in three innings of work.

Suzuki and Fordland will battle for the city title tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Robin Harvey Memorial Field
