The Lewis County Convention and Visitors Bureau is continuing to prepare for the Biggest Yard Sale and has set a July 23 deadline for participants to be included on the map.
"There will be bargain hunters from across the region and multiple states coming to Buckhannon and Weston for this event," Lewis County CVB director Chris Richards said. "We have received calls from as far away as Indiana. When the yard sale participants include their registration with our office, that ensures them that the yard sale buyers will know where to find their yard sale because they will then be included in the event map. The maps and signage for your registered yard sale will be available at the Lewis County Convention and Visitors Bureau the Wednesday before the sale begins."
Once registered, the yard sales are placed on the Official Yard Sale Map that is distributed to hotels, restaurants, shops, gas stations and Visitors Centers in the area.
Any Lewis County resident who would like to register a yard sale and have it included on the map may visit www.facebook.com/events/160329280765953, call 304-269-7328, or email: firstname.lastname@example.org or come by to pick up your registration form. The cost to participate is $10.
Lewis County residents also have the opportunity to set up on the lawn at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum for the event for $5 per person. TALA is included on the map so participants will be listed under its location. Call them at 304-269-5070 to register. Anyone setting up at TALA will need to bring their own tables and chairs. Those people will not be eligible for the prize drawing unless TALA wins.
A grand prize raffle drawing for both Upshur and Lewis County registered yard sales will be a bed & breakfast package from Stonewall Resort To be eligible to win the prize, participants must complete a registration form, pay the registration fee and submit both items to the Lewis County Convention and Visitors Bureau by the deadline of July 23.
