Ken Waddell, Belington watercolor artist, is the second featured artist in Philippi Public Library's "Meet Your Local Artist" series.
Waddell will demonstrate his watercolor techniques and methods from 11 a.m. to noon July 21 in the library.
During his demonstration, Waddell will produce a painting by pulling a two-color wash, utilizing masking techniques and illustrating compositional methods. He will have a selection of his paintings on display and will answer questions about his work and how to get started painting with watercolors.
Waddell is a retired Barbour County principal and county school administrator. He currently teaches watercolor, water media and oil painting at the Randolph County Community Art Center. He has been recognized in many state and local art exhibits. Waddell will teach a water media class for five days at this summer's Augusta Festival at Davis and Elkins College.
The artist is a signature member of the West Virginia Watercolor Society and the Seneca Trail Artist Guild of Elkins. His works may be purchased at Mountain Treasurers in Philippi.
