WVWC recognizes outstanding students

Several individuals were recognized at the annual Academic and Leadership Awards banquet at West Virginia Wesleyan College.

The Student Senate awards a faculty and a staff member for their dedication and support to Wesleyan's students. This year's winners were Dr. Kwame Boateng and Alisa Lively. Boateng has been an associate professor of political science since 1994. Lively is the director of Campus Life and has served the college since 1988.

Also receiving an award from the Student Senate for Greek Woman of the Year was Jessica Wagner, of Buckhannon. She also earned recognition as the 2012 Newman Civic Fellows and was named to the junior Who's Who Among Students in America.

Earning recognition for outstanding awards were Iris Aloi, sophomore in political science; Ashleigh Bennett, senior in environmental studies; Ethan Butler, sophomore in art; Janet Coffey, of French Creek, sophomore in nursing; David Cutright, senior Who's Who Among Students in America; Taylor Foster, junior in nursing; Jessica Harvey, Hyma award; Dillon Huffman, sophomore in physics and engineering; Nathaniel Linger, research student in biology; Emily Medlock, junior in art; and Evid Miller, junior Who's Who Among Students in America; Emalee O'Brien, Dr. Ruth Mansberger Shearer Education award; Kristen Sayre, dancer award in theater and senior Who's Who Among Students in America; Douglas Stout, senior in music; and Hannah Talbott, Senior/English Department Highest GPA award.
