Governor’s Schools for the Arts student Rachel Stanley works on her painting of a tiger. Since July 4 Davis & Elkins College has hosted 100 rising high school juniors participating in the annual program. Stanley said she has found a greater appreciation for the other forms of art while participating in the camp’s interdisciplinary time. For more than one hour every night students have participated in classes about the six other disciplines offered at the camp.

The 17 vocal students, under the instruction of Liz Marshall-MacVean, rehearse Wednesday before their performance at the Sharing of the Arts today. The students have been working on five group songs as well as solo pieces. The students were able to professionally record their solo pieces at Lone Wolfe Studio in Elkins on Thursday. ‘It’s really neat to work with this high level of musicians. Everybody’s skill level is really, really high ... . They want to learn. They want to be challenged,’ Marshall-MacVean said.
