Fonso Stalnaker, Elkins High School class of 1957, competed in football, basketball and track.
As quarterback, he led the 1955 team to a 7-1-2 record. During the 1956-57 season (9-1) he averaged 2.5 touchdown passes per game.
In his senior season, he was named to the Special Honorable Mention All-State Team.
During the 1955-56 basketball season, the Tigers compiled a 20-3 record. As co-captain, Stalnaker was the leading scorer in 1956-57, earning Special Honorable Mention All-State honors.
He continued his basketball career at Davis & Elkins College as a freshman starter and letterman for the Senators.
