Elmer Edward Dumire, 92, formerly of Davis, passed away Aug. 16, 2012, in Calvert Manor Healthcare Center in Rising Sun. Md.
He was born Aug. 26, 1919, at Davis, a son of the late James Edward (1971) and Lula Pearl Imes Dumire (1958).
Mr. Dumire was never married.
He is survived by a brother-in-law, Merlin Peters of New Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
Elmer was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard of Canton, Ohio, James "Bucky" while serving in the U.S. Navy and Maxwell "Mike" of the family home in Davis; two sisters, Thelma Lyman of Davis and Betty McCauley Peter of New Creek; and a half sister, Juanita Sharpnack of Ohio.
As a young boy, he loved to hunt squirrels and deer with his father and brother. Mr. Dumire was a U.S. Army veteran. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he was employed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Elmer live with his father in Davis, and later in life with his sister, Betty Lou, in Riverdale, Md. His last residence was the Calvert Manor Healthcare Center in Rising Sun. Md.
Graveside services will be today at 1:30 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thomas with the Rev. Marvin E. Harris officiating.
