Buckhannon-Upshur's golf team traveled to the Pines Country Club in Morgantown Monday night, placing third in a highly competitive quadrangular match. Facing some of the state's largest Class AAA schools, the Bucs of first-year head coach Chris Gow came within 18 strokes of match winner Morgantown High.
Morgantown edged Parkersburg South by a single stroke, 161-162. South's Alex Schreckengost's card of 36 earned him low-medalist honors.
Buckhannon-Upshur's Dalton Westfall was close in the individual scores bringing in a 39. B-U ended the match with a tally of 179 shots, outdistancing Cabell Midland, which traveled from Ona in Cabell County to post a total of 212. It was very strong field for an early season match, something should prove beneficial to the Bucs in the coming weeks.
Stetson West followed with a 45 on the tough layout, with Jacob Hinzman following with a 46 and Dalton Crislip a 48. Jeffrey Davis added a 58 and Blake Williams a 59.
B-U is back on the course today, traveling to Grafton.
