Elkins youth football teams split pair at Lewis County

WESTON?- Elkins split a pair of games with Lewis County Sunday in American Youth Football action at Robert L. Bland Middle School.

The Midgets (1-0)?defeated Lewis County, 20-7.

Beau Bright had 55 yards rushing, while Joseph Schmidlen added 45 yards on the ground for the Bengals.

The Elkins Bengal Peewee quarterback looks to make a handoff to a running back Sunday at Robert L. Bland Middle School. Elkins lost the contest, 39-0.

George Triplett followed with 25 yards on the ground and a touchdown. He also had a 33-yard punt return for a score.

Jeremy Coger followed with a 3-yard run for Elkins.

Gabe Jordan had 10 tackles, while Triplett had seven tackles for the Bengals.

Daniel Romans and Thomas Talkington had six tackles each for Elkins. Romans also had a fumble recovery.

Schmidlen had five tackles and an interception for Elkins.

Elkins entertains Clarksburg Saturday at 7 p.m. at Wimer Field

The Elkins Peewee team lost to Lewis County, 39-0.

Rodney Vandevender had seven tackles, while D.J. Mallow and Kamden Siewny had six stops each for Elkins.

Peyton Isner chipped in with five tackles for the Bengals.

The Elkins Peewee team will host Clarksburg on Saturday at 5 p.m.
