Elkins places third; Lewis County wins

PHILIPPI - The Elkins High School golf team placed third Tuesday in a four-team match at the Barbour County Country Club.

East Fairmont won the match with a 160. Bridgeport (165), Elkins (167) and Philip Barbour (182) followed.

Zack Tilko shot a 35 for East Fairmont to earn low-medalist honors.

Bruce, a red-shirt freshman, was named the Big 12 Conference's Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Mountaineers with 16 tackles and the fumble return for a touchdown.

Bridgeport was led by Brent Rhoades' 39.

Braden Hammond shot a 40 to lead the Tigers. Alex Baird (41), Kollin Hopwood (42), Kelsi Trippett (44), Brendan Cain (47) and Kole Hopwood (49) rounded out the field for Elkins.

Philip Barbour was led by Luke Freeman and Tyler Clifton, who both shot 44.

Elkins will entertain North Marion and Buckhannon-Upshur Monday at 4 p.m.

LEWIS?WINS: Lewis County's Aaron Hall fired a 40 to earn low-medalist honors Tuesday in a match against Big 10 Conference foe Liberty at the Lake Floyd Golf Course.

Jared Myers and Mark Moran each carded a 41 for the Minutemen, and Chris Weaver turned in a 45. Team scores were not kept.

Ty Wickline fired a 42 to lead Liberty.

Lewis County will return to the links today, traveling to the Clarksburg Country Club to take on Notre Dame.
