WVU?student to be princess

Rachel Elizabeth Alvarez of Fairmont has been chosen as a princess in the 76th Mountain State Forest Festival by Sen. Roman W. Prezioso. Alvarez is the daughter of Raymond Alvarez and Barbara Pavel-Alvarez of Fairmont. She has one brother, Jesse Alvarez, and is the granddaughter of Dorothy Pavel of Carmichaels, Pa.

Alvarez is a graduate of Fairmont East High School with the class of 2008. She currently attends West Virginia University, where she is a member of the WVU Honors Program. She is a member of the Phi Upsilon Omicron Honors Society, a member of the WVU Collegiate 4-H program and is on the dean's list at WVU in the Elementary Education Program.

On Oct. 5, the campus of Davis & Elkins College in Elkins will feature Alvarez and other members of the royal court during the annual Mountain State Forest Festival. More information is available by visiting
