Rock Cave CEOS?meet

Members of Rock Cave CEOS met at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 at the Banks District Civic Center with 11 members and one guest, Ely McCartney, in attendance.

Debbie Page presided over the meeting. Ted Turner gave the blessing before refreshments. The door prize was won by Susie Bender. Cheryl Turner read devotions titled "Summertime Memory," followed by the flag salute. Carol Haymond took roll call and read June meeting minutes with one correction. The club's strawberry basket sold for $50. Glen Hawkins made a motion to accept corrected minutes, seconded by Ted Turner. The motion carried.

Avis Bowles passed pictures of the county fair craft displays, the flower show and the club's ice cream booth to the members.

Debbie Page gave the treasurer's report. Carol Haymond motioned to accept as read, seconded by Ted Turner, motion carried.

During committee reports, Bowles gave marketing and membership report, brought June minutes and pictures to local newspapers papers and sent advance meeting notices for July and August. Recyclable items also were delivered to Walmart.

In old business: Debbie Page read July 12 advisory board meeting minutes. The Parish House will be the 2013 county project. The fall fundraiser will be a tupperware Bingo at 1 p.m. Oct. 13, at the Way of Holiness Fellowship Hall. Each club is asked to sell five tickets at $10 each for 20 games and also to donate food. The Mini Fair was scheduled for Sept. 7 with the theme "CEOS Heart of the Community."

Breast Cancer Awareness Day is Oct. 1. Rock Cave CEOS Hen Party will be at 10 a.m. Oct. 27 at the Rock Cave Fire Hall. Blankets of Hope are due Nov. 15 to an organization of the club's choice. Club scrapbooks and histories were discussed.

In new business, Bowles discussed a window display at Main Street Formalwear for Upshur County CEOS Week, Sept. 2 through 8.

Reorganization took place, with Carol Haymond to serve as the club's vice president for 2013.
