Grand jury hands up 25 indictments

The Upshur County grand jury handed up 25 indictments this week, including one for a Knoxville, Tenn., man charged with attempting to stab another.

According to court records, Dwight Steven Smith, 49, is charged with attempted malicious assault. He allegedly attempted to maliciously and feloniously maim, disfigure, disable or kill another man on June 1 using a knife. He is being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond.

He will make his first appearance in Upshur County Circuit Court at 9 a.m. Friday, as will the others indicted by the grand jury.

Others indicted by the grand jury include the following:

Steven James Thomas, 46, of 36 Twin Oak Mobile Home Park, Buckhannon, was indicted on three counts of delivery of a controlled substance.

Shawn M. Edwards, no age or address listed in the indictment, is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy.

Benjamin Oscar Powers, 38, of Cox's Mill, was indicted on four counts of delivery of a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

Evelyn Loretta McCourt, 52, of 22 Morgan Addition, Buckhannon, was indicted on three counts of identity theft and one count of fraudulent schemes.

Everett Austin Currence, 37, of HC 32, Box 29B, Rock Cave, was indicted on charges of grand larceny and entering without breaking.

Allen Nicole Currence, of HC 32, Box 29B, Rock Cave, was indicted on one count of transferring stolen property.

Ginger Jean Marlow, 29, of Route 2, Box 30F, French Creek, was indicted on three counts of shoplifting, third offense.

Melvin Antonio Tyler, no age or address listed in the indictment, is facing felony charges of grand larceny and conspiracy, along with a misdemeanor charge of false reporting.

Ronald Dewayne Deuley, 55, of Route 1, Box 183, Ellamore, was indicted on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, third or subsequent offense, and one count of driving while having a license revoked for DUI, third or subsequent offense.

John M. Ruble Jr., 29, of 19 Tenney's Mobile Home Park, Buckhannon, was indicted on four counts of failing to provide notice of change in information as required by the Sex Offender Registry laws.

Christopher Kirk Lane, 22, of Rock Cave, was indicted on a grand larceny charge.

Adrian Ann Farrar, 27, of 31 Lumber St., Buckhannon, was indicted on a felony charges of domestic battery, third or subsequent offense, and escape, along with a misdemeanor charge of obstructing an officer.

Robert James Tiffner, 19, of HC 71, Box 154, Ellamore, and Joshua Alden Tenney, 24, of Route 2, Box 240, French Creek, were both indicted on two counts of conspiracy, along with one count each of operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug laboratory and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.

Bo Dwain Beckner, 32, of 133 Pocahontas St., Buckhannon, was indicted on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, third or subsequent offense.

Chad Edward Cook, 38, of 222 Lee St., Weston, was indicted on three counts of the fraudulent use of an access device and a single count of fraudulent schemes.

Kathy Renae McVickers and Randall L. Wamsley, no age or address listed for either in the indictment, are facing a misdemeanor charge of neglect of an incapacitated adult.

Timothy Lee Grubb, 44, of HC 71, Box 119, Ellamore, was indicted on two counts of failing to provide a change of information as required by the Sex Offender Registry laws.

Devin William McCauley, 23, of Route 1, Box 56-S, Montrose, was indicted on two counts of grand larceny and two counts of conspiracy. Daniel Thomas Gray, no age or address listed on the indictment, is facing the same charges as a co-defendant.

Jessica Rae Vaughn, 21, of 15 Jackson St., Buckhannon, was indicted on felony charges of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance and conspiracy, along with a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Patrick Shane Courtney, 20, of 10 Franklin St., Buckhannon, was indicted on one count each of conspiracy and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

Richard Eugene Young, 46, of 969 Sharon Copley Road, Wadsworth, Ohio, is facing felony charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, third or subsequent offense, fleeing while DUI and domestic battery, third or subsequent offense, along with misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and driving while having a license revoked for DUI.
