George "Bill" Carpenter of Elkins celebrated his 90th birthday on Sept. 7. A surprise dinner was hosted in his honor on Sept. 2 with family and friends.
He is the son of the late Dayton and Mabel McSwain Carpenter. He has one brother, Gene, of Charlottesville, Va., and one sister, the late Mary Evelyn Corley.
On April 18, 1947, he married Nana Mae Bell Carpenter. They have two daughters, Debbie Pernia and husband, Floyd, of Elkins, and Jennifer Cerone and husband, Mike, of Roswell, Ga. They also have three grandchildren, Tyler, Riley and Ethan Cerone, and one step-grandson, Andrew Pernia, of Lanham, Md.
