Katie Marie Simmons earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy during its 16th commencement ceremony June 3 at the Bayfront Convention Center in Erie, Pa. She is the daughter of Rocky and Susan Simmons of Elkins.
The Doctor of Pharmacy degree prepares pharmacists committed to providing high-quality, ethical and compassionate patient centered care. The LECOM School of Pharmacy in Erie offers a year-round curriculum that enables students to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in just three years.
Simmons also was awarded the LECOM School of Pharmacy Award for Exceptional Community Service. This award is given to a graduate who has demonstrated dedication to providing exceptional service to the local or college community through educational or volunteer experiences. She is currently a pharmacy resident at the Louis A. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Clarksburg.
