Upshur resident enters guilty plea to drug charge

A 32-year-old Horner resident entered a plea of guilty on Sept.18 in United States District Court in Elkins before Magistrate Judge John S. Kaull.

U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II, announced that Richard Wayne Weaver entered a plea of guilty to conspiracy to manufacture, possess with intent to distribute and distribute methamphetamine from May of 2011 to July of 2012 in the Northern District of West Virginia.

Weaver, who is in custody pending sentencing, faces up to 30 years imprisonment and a $2 million fine due to three prior felony convictions.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner and investigated by the Upshur County Sheriff's Department, the Buckhannon Police Department and the United States Marshals Service.
