The Elkins Middle School boys and girls cross country teams captured top honors at the Forest Festival Invitational Wednesday at Davis & Elkins College.
Elkins won the boys race with score of 18. Belington placed second with a 40.
The Hornets' Dalton Hamrick placed first with a time of 13:30. Elkins' Brendan Wallace and Mason Clark were second and third, respectively. Wallace completed the course in a time of 14:18, while Clark finished at 14:38.

Belington's Johnny Williams was fourth (14:42) and Tanner George fifth (15:09).
Elkins won the girls race with a score of 19. Belington (48) and Buckhannon-Upshur followed (64).
The Lady Hornets' Kaci Zopp finished first with a time of 15:58. Belington's Brianna Williams was second (16:13) and Elkins' Christine Zurbuch (16:59) third.
The Lady Hornets' Leanna High (17:25) and Loria Rush (17:27)?rounded out the top five individuals.
Elkins will visit Buckhannon-Upshur on Saturday.
Middle School Football
Tygarts Valley 42, Glade 20
MILL CREEK - Ronnie Nicholas finished with 204 yards all-purpose yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Tygarts Valley past Glade 42-20 Wednesday night in middle school action at Bulldog Field.
Nicholas finished with 129 yards rushing and two scores, while also returning a kickoff 75 yards to paydirt for the Bulldogs, who led 28-6 at halftime.
Rece Wamsley completed 5-of-6 passes for 114 yards and two touchdowns for Tygarts Valley (3-1).
Zac McCauley had two catches for 55 yards and scored two touchdowns for the Bulldogs. Jake Tackett had one catch for 32 yards, while Jace Stanley had one catch for 27 yards.
Nicholas had seven tackles to lead Tygarts Valley's defense. Jerad Taylor, Tristen Dumire and Darrell Martin added six stops each. Taylor and Martin had sacks.
Wamsley and Nick Sisler also had sacks, while Caleb Riggleman had two interceptions for the Bulldogs.
Tygarts Valley will host Marlinton next Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Tucker Valley 8, Elkins 6
PARSONS - Ethan Crosten had 57 yards and scored a touchdown as Tucker Valley held an 8-6 lead over Elkins Wednesday night when the contest was halted due to severe thunderstorms.
The game was stopped during the second quarter of play. The teams will attempt to resume the game at a later date. If no date becomes available, the Wildcats will be awarded the win.
Cory Gillespie had 83 yards and a touchdown for the Hornets.
Elkins will entertain Belington Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Tucker Valley will visit Philippi the same night.
