Alderson-Broaddus will be hosting a variety of events for the public as part of their Homecoming celebration "Road Trip Back to the Future" Oct. 12-14.
All community organizations are invited to participate in the return of the parade. The parade will take place at 11 a.m. Oct. 13 along Main Street. It will start near Subway and conclude at Sheetz.
Applications are now being accepted for parade entries. The college is asking all interested parties to please fill out an application ahead of time. To download the application, please visit www.ab.edu/homecoming. Completed forms must be returned to the A-B Alumni Office no later than today.
The annual Homecoming Pageant will take place at 8 p.m. Oct. 12.. Join alumni, friends, and the A-B campus community in Funkhouser Auditorium for this traditional event. This year's Lord and Lady of Homecoming will be recognized.
New this year is the Friday night Pep Rally/Bonfire at 9:30 p.m. at the old helicopter pad in front of former Broaddus Hospital. All students, alumni, and friends are invited to this spirit-filled, student-led event. This year's Homecoming Queen and King will be recognized.
Join the A-B Community on Saturday to cheer on the Battlers. The women's soccer team takes on Damien College at noon while the men's soccer team battles the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown at 2 p.m. Both games will take place on the new turf at the Multi-Sport Performance Stadium.
Also on Saturday, the women's volleyball team will play two matches in Rex Pyles Arena. They take on Wheeling Jesuit University at 4 p.m. and Point Park University at 6 p.m.
Wilcox Chapel will be full of music as the afternoon homecoming concert takes place at 3:30 p.m. and the evening concert at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $7 and is payable at the door only. The afternoon concert will feature the Brass Choir, Chamber Ensemble, Concert Choir, and Woodwind Ensemble while the evening concert will be headlined by the Men's and Women's Quartets, Jazz Ensemble, and "The West Virginians."
On Sunday morning, the annual Homecoming Chapel Service will take place in Wilcox Chapel at 10 a.m. This year the College celebrates the 35th anniversary of "The West Virginians" with a special alumni performance. Dr. Phil Ellmore, class of 1982, is this year's guest speaker.
Other events open to the public throughout the weekend include the Trustee Spouses Bazaar and Alumni Council Silent Auction in the Campus Center, and the Craft Show at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church. The A-B Bookstore and Jazzman's Cafe will also be open on Oct.12 from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Oct. 13 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
