Workman named royalty

Secretary of State Natalie Tennant has chosen Kayla Jade Workman as a princess in the 76th Mountain State Forest Festival.

Workman is the daughter of Linda and the late Wayman Workman. She is the granddaughter of Irene Mosser and the late Kirk Mosser and the late Wayman and Lena Workman. She has one sister, Erica.

Workman graduated from Elkins High School with the class of 2009. She was a member of the National Technical Honor Society and attended Rhododendron Girls State.

She presently attends Wheeling Jesuit University, where she has a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. She is a member of the school's pre-physical therapy program. She also is a member of the WJU Biology Club, Alpha Epsilon Delta and Beta Beta Beta, and she was a dean's list recipient. She has attended dance at the Dance Factory and was a member of the Augusta Youth Ballet Co.

Workman and other members of the royal court are set to take part in the Forest Festival's coronation ceremony Friday at Davis & Elkins College.
