Crisis Management seminar offered

Lisa Wharton, vice president of public relations for St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon and Past-President of the West Virginia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), announced a statewide professional development seminar focusing on Crisis Management for Public Relations professionals on Oct 17.

Entitled "When Your World Goes to Hell" the seminar will be presented as a video teleconference hosted in five areas throughout the state. Host sites will be Buckhannon, Bethany, Morgantown, Parkersburg and South Charleston.

The seminar, which runs from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm, will be presented by professionals who have recent experience in dealing with Crisis Management from three perspectives.

April Kaull, news anchor for West Virginia Media, will present "Media View: How do you report and what help do you need when the plug is pulled?"

Jeri Matheny, APR, communications director for Appalachian Power, will present "Industry View: Who pulled the plug? Just what do you do when the infrastructure you depend on isn't available, and you still have to tell people about it?"

Andy Wessels, communications director for Mountain State University, will present "Personal View: Your organization is going away. What do you do in the face of imminent closure of your organization?"

The Buckhannon presentation will be in the library at St. Joseph's Hospital. Lunch will begin at 11:30 am with the workshop starting at 12:15 pm.
