Festival’s pageantry at its peak

October 5, 2012
The Inter-Mountain

Today will mark the pinnacle of the Mountain State Forest Festival, when Maid Silvia LXXVI Emily McKibbin Everson is crowned.

The pageantry and regal reverence surrounding the coronation truly are a sight to behold, as is Maid Silvia's gown. Inter-Mountain readers are among exclusive company. They are treated to a first look at the majestic dress, which is featured on the front page of today's edition.

The gown is a vision of beauty and elegance, much like Maid Silvia herself. Everson has done a magnificent job, as has her royal court, in the numerous public appearances that have filled her slate this festival week.

We want to recognize all participants, Director General Mike Karlen and his assistants for what has been a successful, memorable festival thus far.

Like Maid Silvia's crown glistening in the sun, Elkins will radiate in the statewide spotlight during Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin's visit today. Congratulations to all those who helped to make this year's festival possible.
