GRAFTON?- Marty Elliot scored two goals to lead Buckhannon-Upshur to a 3-1 win over Grafton Thursday night in Big 10 Conference action.

Elliot found the back of the net 20 minutes into the game, scoring off an assist from freshman Matt McCoy. Grafton tied the game five minutes later on a penalty kick from Briar Hickman.

Elliot struck again early in the second half, scoring off an assist from Jordan Thompson at the 43 minute mark.

With only a minute left in the contest, the Bucs posted an insurance goal off the foot of freshman Marcus Lofton.

The speedy Lofton, who also starred in track at the middle school level, fielded a through ball from Elliot and ended the evening's scoring with an exciting breakaway goal.

"Grafton played us very physical and fast, which forced us to make quick movements with the ball," Donato said. "For the most part, we did a good job of that. When we kept the ball on the ground, we were able to get into the corners and create a lot of chances."

Buckhannon-Upshur outshot the Bearcats 12-4 and led in corner kicks 9-2. Cam Blake collected three saves in goal for the Bucs, while Stephen Tennant recorded 10 in net for Grafton.

Buckhannon-Upshur (10-6) will travel to Jefferson on Saturday.

Freshman Taylor Starkey scored twice, while single goals came from Lexi Greene, Emily Godwin, Hannah Stankus, Brooklyn Waddell and Jessica Feronti.

Godwin produced two assists, while Starkey, Haley Ware and Alayna Wright had once each.

"We had to adjust to playing without Lauren Cvechko, who got a concussion in our last game, so it took our defense awhile to adjust to her not being there in the middle," Hasbrouck said. "I felt Erin Beer did a very good job and Courtney Warner came in off the bench and played very well."

B-U (15-1) will travel to Jefferson on Saturday.
