The Buckhannon Rotary and St. Joseph's Hospital will host blood screenings on Oct. 20 and Oct 27 at the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School and at the Tri-County Health Clinic in Rock Cave.
The Rotary Blood Screening will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. and will offer Basic Blood Profile tests for only $35, a savings of 90 percent. Optional testing for colon cancer and thyroid screening is available for an additional $5.00, PSA testing for $20, and Hemoglobin A1C for diabetes for $15.
No appointments are needed and fasting for 12 hours is required prior to testing.
Cash and personal checks are accepted and you must bring a physician's name to whom you want to have your test results sent.
Flu shots will also be available to anyone over the age of six years.
There are no out-of-pocket expenses for those with a valid Medicare card. Cost for all others is $20. The vaccination is extremely important for young children, people 65 and older, pregnant women, people with existing medical conditions and those people who are in contact with those at greatest risk.
