The Church of God of Prophecy, 43 Gilmore St. in Elkins, will present a dramatization of a classic message by theologian and great awakener Jonathan Edwards at 7 p.m. Oct.19 to 21. The weekend will be celebrated as "Great Awakening Revival, 2012."
The sermon, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," will be dramatically preached, in its complete original text, each evening by the Rev. Stephen W. Pyle.
Pyle will don a costume with a colonial wig, priest robe and eye specs to present this gospel sermon. Those attending each night, if they wish, are to feel free to wear colonial or old-fashioned apparel.
Featured each evening will be a guest singer, Stephanie Leigh Pyle, who is the daughter of Rev. Pyle and his wife Sallie. Stephanie Pyle also will provide the prelude narration, music tracks and sound effects for the sermon event.
This classic literary written message by Edwards persuaded several in the congregation at Enfield, Conn., on July 8, 1741, to make decisions for Christ. The "Great Awakening" of the late 1730s and early 1740s stirred Colonial America to great passion for Jesus Christ.
All are invited to attend this special three-night weekend revival. More information is available by calling Rev. Pyle at 304-637-0073 or 304-704-22190, or by emailing email@example.com.
