Arts Center to host free concert

October 15, 2012
The Inter-Mountain

Katy Davis McClane will perform on concert, alto and bass flutes at the next Randolph County Community Arts Center's Brown Bag Concert.

The Sounds from the Deep performance is set for noon Wednesday.

Since McClane's return to Elkins in 2011, she has been teaching flute privately, became president of the D&E Music Club, formed flute ensembles and started Jump Start, a swing band featuring the talents of Seth Maynard on guitar and Joey Hochgesang on bass.

Jump Start appeared in September at the Kump Center's New Deal at the Crossroads event.

McClane will be joined by Wesleyan flute professor Linda Wolfersheim and classical guitarist Wayne Rowand.

Concert guests will have the opportunity to view the 2012 Forest Festival Juried Art Exhibit as well as Seasonal Scenes: A Solo Exhibit by Jo Ann Post Barlow.

The free brown bag concerts are sponsored by the Davis Trust Co.

The Randolph County Community Arts Center, a nonprofit organization promoting and supporting the arts in Randolph County and the surrounding areas, is located at the corner of Randolph Avenue and Park Street in Elkins.

The Arts Center is supported by private donations as well as the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, and the National Endowment for the Arts, with approval from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts.
