TENNERTON - Buckhannon-Upshur got its postseason off to a roaring start Wednesday night, scoring seven first-half goals en route to an 8-0 victory over visiting Lewis County. With the win, B-U advances to this weekend's Class AAA Region II, Section 2 title game.
Three different Lady Bucs enjoyed two-goal nights - Emily Godwin, Brooklyn Waddell and Taylor Starkey. Hannah Stankus and Lauren Cvechko recorded single goals in the barrage.
Godwin, Waddell and Haley Ware provided the only assists on the night as five of the B-U tallies came of the unassisted variety. Buckhannon-Upshur outshot the Minutemaids, 16-3, and earned three corner kicks to only two for Lewis County.

Jodi Champman recorded eight saves in goal for the Minutemaids, while a trio of Lady Buc keepers produced saves - Kelsey Hinzman, Hannah Williams and Jordan Hoover.
"We came out strong and created opportunities and took it to Lewis County," Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Tom Hasbrouck said. "The first half we totally dominated, and we were able to get everyone dressed into each half."
Buckhannon-Upshur improves to 20-1 overall.
The Lady Bucs advance to the sectional final Saturday at 1 p.m. and will host Hamsphire.
Hampshire 2, Elkins 0
The Elkins High School girls soccer team lost to Hampshire 2-0 Wednesday in Class AAA, Region?II, Section 2 tournament action.
"We had way too many mistakes out there tonight," Elkins coach Scott Cutright said. "They are a good very good team."
Hampshire moves on to play Buckhannon-Upshur at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Tennerton..
Elkins finishes its season with a 5-10-3 record.
