Dr. Bryan Jeffrey Fritz, 33, of New Orleans, La., formerly of Follansbee, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at his home.

He was born Jan. 16, 1979, at Steubenville, Ohio, a son of Edward and Cecilia McDevitt Fritz of Follansbee.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John Patrick and Julia Stella Kolcun McDevitt; his paternal grandparents, Albert and Stephanie Nizankiewhicz Fritz; and his cousin, Shawn Fritz, in 1996.

Bryan graduated from Brooke High School in 1997 and went on to graduate cum laude from Colgate University in 2001 with a degree in chemistry, and in 2005, he graduated from Tulane Medical School. He did his residency in anesthesiology at U.P.M.C. in Pittsburgh, Pa., and his Fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. Dr. Fritz was currently a pediatric anesthesiologist with the Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, La.

One of his many joys was to travel with his family and friends. On one of his trips he provided children's surgery's in Guatemala to children with cleft palates.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife whom he married on June 9, 2012, Samantha Daniels Fritz, at home; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carol and Bill McDaniel of Florence, S.C., and Ron and Sandy Daniels of Elkins; two brothers-in-law, Sterling (Stacey) Daniels and Craig (Lexi) McDaniel; three sisters-in-law, Natasha Daniels, Jaime McDaniel and Amy Current; his aunts and uncles, Julie Ann (William) Nelson, John Patrick McDevitt Jr., Thomas (Sharon) McDevitt, Ted (Barbara) Fritz, Marsha (Richard) Simonetti and Caroline Westfall, along with many loving cousins.

Visitation was Wednesday at Mullenbach Funeral Home, 669 Main St., Follansbee. Mass of Christian burial will be today at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 1017 Jefferson St. in Follansbee with the Rev. Fr. Pete Giannamore as celebrant. Vigil services were Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Follansbee.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Brooke High School cross country team or to Mullenbach Funeral Home 669 Main St., Follansbee, WV 26037. Condolences may be sent to
