Police and the Lewis County Emergency Medical Squad were dispatched to Jerry's Sporting Goods in the Horner area of Lewis County at 5:11 p.m. Wednesday after a report of a shooting inside the store.
A man from Randolph County had apparently been there for a while, target shooting at the indoor range with a .45-caliber handgun. He later sat down, and shot himself in the chest. He died a short time later.
Police have not officially said it if is a suicide or an accident.
West Virginia State Police is in charge of the investigation. The Lewis County Sheriff's Department also responded to the scene.
