Owen Black, 84, of Buckhannon, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, in St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon.
He was born Feb. 8, 1928, at Elkins, a son of the late Elva Black and Ivy Koon Black Shipman.
On Dec. 10, 1992, he married Cecelia Bachman, who survives.
Also surviving are three sisters, Catherine Light, Leona Dean and Carolyn Smith Brown, all of Buckhannon; three brothers, Johnny Black of Buckhannon, Ralph Black of Valley Bend and Russell Black of Buckhannon; and one sister-in-law, Bonnie Black of Buckhannon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Homer, Arkie and James Black and twin brothers; two sisters, Lena and Glenna Black.
Mr. Black was a truck driver. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Carter, a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 3663 of Buckhannon. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Friends will be received Sunday, Oct. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jack Bohman officiating. Burial will follow in Buckhannon Veterans Cemetery in Buckhannon. Buckhannon VFW Post 3663, Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion and DAV Post 5 and #36 will conduct military honors at the graveside. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com.
