Victor Ray Newman, age 73, of Buckhannon, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at his home under the care of St. Joseph's Hospice.
He was born Aug. 19, 1939, in Baltimore County, MD., a son of the late Fred Alfred and Ethel Elmira Wright Newman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Oliver Dean; and one brother, David Newman.
He is survived by three daughters, Kristina Leggett and husband, Timothy, Tricia Newman and Mary Anne Newman, all of Buckhannon; two sons, Alex Newman and wife, Heather, of Wilbur, Wash., and Nicholas Newman and wife, Amanda, of Morgantown; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford Newman and Fred Newman and wife, Janet, all of Buckhannon; two sisters, Edith Newman of Buckhannon and Alice McIntyre and husband, Frank, of Bloomfield, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Newman was the owner of American Furniture. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Buckhannon, Buckhannon Civil Air Patrol and LOOM. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. He loved to fly and fish.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
