Mr. Clarence Edward Meade, Jr., 70, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, in the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Unit.
He was born Nov. 21, 1941, in Tazewell County, Va., a son of the late Clarence Edward Meade, Sr. and the late Dorothy Beatrice Whittaker Meade.
On October 7, 1962, he was married to Carolyn Fay Bennett Meade, who survives at Mill Creek.
Also surviving is one son, C.E. "Jay" Meade, III and wife, Jill, of Mechanicsville, Va.; one daughter, Christina K. Phillips and husband, Jarrod, of Beverly; one brother, Roger Meade, Tazewell, Va.; three sisters, Mary Hill, Virginia Beach, Va., Joann Whitaker, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, and Kimberly Massie of Lynchburg, Va.; two grandchildren, Alan and Kayla Meade; and his dog, Rosie, also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Teddy L. Meade and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lewis and Rissie Bennett.
Mr. Meade was a graduate of Tazewell County High School with the class of 1959. He was employed as a bridge inspector for the West Virginia Department of Highways prior to his retirement and attended the Memorial Mission Church at Mill Creek.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tristan Tenney and Rev. Bernard Teter officiating. Interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville.
