Davis Memorial, Rotary Club combine efforts on blood tests

October 30, 2012
The Inter-Mountain

Davis Memorial Hospital and the Rotary Club of Tucker County will host a multiphasic blood screening from 7 to 10 a.m. Friday at the Parsons Senior Center. Free flu shots for adults will be available from 8 to 10 a.m.

The cost for a comprehensive blood test is just $30, a $300 value. Optional tests are available at additional costs and include: TSH, Hemoglobin A1c, PSA, Vitamin D, 25-Hydroxy, Vitamin B12 & Folate and C-Reactive Protein.

For optimal results, fasting for 12 hours prior to testing is recommended. Results will be mailed to people's homes.

Employees of Davis Memorial Hospital will handle the blood draws and laboratory testing. Members of the Rotary Club will register participants and provide refreshments after the draws.

Walk-ins are welcome, but people can call 304-637-3861 in advance for an appointment. Cash or personal checks are accepted.

"These blood tests provide valuable information about an individual's health," said Carla Johnston, Davis Memorial lab director. "Prevention and early detection are the best protection against many diseases and conditions."
