Democrat Brian K. Wilfong of Hambleton defeated Republican Charles Fred Trader Jr. of Parsons in convincing fashion in the race for Tucker County Sheriff Tuesday.

Wilfong received 2,463 votes for 80.07 percent of the vote, according to Tuesday's unofficial results. Trader received 19.83 percent of the vote with 610 votes.

"I plan to continue to serve the citizens of Tucker County," Wilfong said. "I am very excited about the win and am looking forward to working with everyone."

Wilfong brings 25 years of experience in law enforcement, having worked in both Tucker County and with the Preston County Sheriff's Department and the United States Marshal Service.

Tucker County's current sheriff, Tom Felton, was not eligible to be re-elected because he is finishing his second consecutive term.
