As many people in the region continue to recover from the effects of Superstorm Sandy and power outages, a group of local volunteers wanted to do something to help.
The organizers, who wish to remain anonymous, will prepare chicken barbecue that will be given out starting at 4 p.m. Friday at the parking lot of the Elkins Walmart.
Any residents who remain without power, or those who just got electricity back on but lost perishable food from the outage, are welcome to come get some chicken, no questions asked. Utility workers or first-responders also are welcome to stop by for chicken barbecue.
The meat has been donated by Wendling's Food Service, Walmart and an anonymous donor.
Anyone who would like to bring a donation or help volunteer is welcome to stop by Friday.
