James H. O'Dell, loving husband and father, went to be with the Lord late Monday evening, Nov. 5, 2012.
He was born June 21, 1963, a son of William O'Dell of Elkins.
He is survived by his stepmother, Rose Martin of Elkins.
He was married to Barbara Moore O'Dell, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are one son, Michael O'Dell of Elkins; one daughter, Britney Moore and companion, Brad Warner, of Beverly; a grandson, Remington Warner of Beverly; and one stepson, Nickolas Poling; five brothers, William O'Dell, Jeff O'Dell and wife, Bonnie, of Charleston, S.C., Marner O'Dell of Elkins, Edward O'Dell and wife, Elva, and Timothy O'Dell and wife, Cindy, all of Phoenix, Aria.; one half sister, Melissa Wilson of Elkins; and stepsisters and brother, Evelin Brown, Alverda Sharp and husband, Lee, Margaret Fortney, Nippy Martin, April Channell and husband, Rob. Also surviving are his mother-in-law and father-in-law, James and Patty Moore of Elkins, and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Michael and Donald O'Dell.
James was a devoted iron worker and was employed by Triangle Inc. of Hurricane and was a member of Union Local 301. He enjoyed helping others, hunting and billiards and was a Duke University basketball fan. He most enjoyed spending time with his family.
Friends may call from 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at Gospel Light Tabernacle Church, Route 219 north, Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday from the church with the Rev. Conley Ogden and the Rev. A.H. Belt officiating. Cremation will follow.
